Fantastic Opportunity for FREE Marketing Feedback/Coaching:
Sarah Mullins, owner of A La Crate Rentals, recently joined WWBIC’s staff. Sarah’s background is in marketing and graphic design. The funding for her position came from CARES Act funding. As businesses impacted by COVID-19, you are eligible for consultation with Sarah. This is a great opportunity to get a review of your marketing collateral (brochures, postcards, website design) and to receive feedback about your marketing plan and approach.
If you’re interested in this opportunity, please let me know. I will connect you with Sarah.
Women, Power & Money
Women, Power & Money: A Live Masterclass and Q&A (for women) with Kasia Urbaniak
Monday 28 September at 5pm CST. FREE!
https://www.kasiaurbaniak.com/women-power-money
I have taken Kasia Urbaniak courses before, and I found them thought-provoking and paradigm-shifting. There’s no doubt that women and men (in general) have differing relationships to money and power. That is clear when reviewing statistics on women, men, and business lending. Did you know? The average size loan for women-owned businesses was 31 percent less than for male-owned businesses. Women are about half as likely as men are to receive an SBA loan, with only 3.2% of all women receiving an SBA loan, versus 6.4% for male business owners. ... Meanwhile, women-owned businesses have received just 7% of all venture capital within the United States. Fundera updates its State of Small Business Lending: Spotlight on Women Entrepreneurs regularly. It’s an interesting (and frustrating read). If you’re a woman that wants to be part of changing these statistics, you may be interested in this class.

In the News: Minority-Owned Business Hub Coming to South Park Street Corridor (by the WWBIC office)
County Executive Parisi Announced a $2 Million budget initiative for Urban League to Acquire Property for Minority Owned Business Hub
The $2 million in the 2021 budget will help the Urban League purchase a site for an economic development hub along the South Park Street corridor dedicated to supporting minority-owned businesses. The project will be modeled after the Sherman Phoenix project in Milwaukee, an entrepreneurial hub in the Sherman Park neighborhood providing high-quality commercial space and support for small businesses.
For those not familiar with Sherman Phenix in Milwaukee – it’s an awesome initiative that is near and dear to WWBIC:
