Bookkeeping Set-up

With our approach, set-up and training go hand-in-hand.  By the end of our set-up/training period - your books will be up-to-date for the current tax year. During this process, we learn more about your business; and in turn we can help you understand how YOUR business works with QuickBooks.

We offer the following Bookkeeping Set-up Services:

• Recommend Appropriate QuickBooks Platform based on Business Review

• Set up QuickBooks Account*

• Conversion from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online

• Connect & Sync Bank Feeds

• Data Entry - Including Uploading Bank & Credit Card Account History**

• Allocation of Expenses

• Categorization of Transactions

• Reviewing Classifications for Appropriateness

• Reconciling Bank (including PayPal, etc), Credit Card, and Liability (loan, line of credit) Accounts

• Entering Journal Entries (including sales tax, merchant fees, interest payments, cost of goods sold)

The length of time required to catch up or clean up your books depends on the number of months, the number of transactions, the number of accounts and how much work you want to do versus how much you want us to do. 

If you’re looking for a ballpark cost, it generally costs about $100 per month of clean-up required.

Monthly Bookkeeping & Reporting - *our most popular service

When we started Allied Bookkeeping, we thought that we would be helping most clients set up QuickBooks and then provide them training so they could do most of their own bookkeeping. However, it turns out that most of our clients want us to do most of the monthly bookkeeping. So, to our surprise, this is the service 95% of our clients have chosen.

In a nutshell… Your business will receive income and pay your bills/expenses.

And we’ll use QuickBooks to track what you receive and what you spend. We’ll also provide you with regular monthly reports, and keep your books “tax-ready” for quarterly reporting and annual tax preparation. Some additional bookkeeping, tax, and reporting services are available on an as-needed basis (see the next tab).

What you do:

• Receive payments from clients/customers

• Pay your bills and expenses

• Provide us with your bank/credit card/loan statements monthly (or some clients choose to set up logins for us).

What we do:

• Enter and classify all transactions for bank accounts, credit cards and loan accounts

• Reconcile accounts on a monthly basis

• Send you monthly financial statements by the end of the following month (assuming we received any statements or documentation from you on or before the 15th).

We offer the following monthly services and reporting:

• Categorization of Transactions

• Data Entry, when necessary

• Reviewing Classifications for Appropriateness

• Reconciling Bank (including PayPal, etc), Credit Card, and Liability (loan, line of credit) Accounts

• Profit & Loss Reporting (monthly summary and/or detail report)

• Balance Sheet Reporting (monthly, upon request)

• Access to Our Client-only App: Client Hub

• Regular Communication about Bookkeeping Transactions

• Annual Review Meeting

​Pricing (ballpark):

Most of our clients have a monthly bookkeeping cost between $125/month and $275/month. It really depends on so many factors - that are difficult to assess without familiarity with your unique business and unique business books - that our usual process is to catch up your books to current (at an hourly rate) and then meet with you again for clarifications before giving you a monthly cost estimate. Please note that the monthly fee usually stays very stable, but if you were to add a significant amount of accounts and/or monthly transactions - costs could go up. We would of course discuss that with you first. The only reason prices would go up without a discussion would be if you purchase your QuickBooks subscription through our firm, and QuickBooks raises its prices (which they do periodically; and in that case, we try to give you as much notice as possible if/when that would occur). And in this case, your cost would still be lower than market rates.

Additional Bookkeeping Services

Some additional services can be provided at no cost, some will increase the monthly fee (such as sales tax preparation), and some include a once-a-year cost (such as 1099 preparation for contractors).
